My response here is not so much an answer to this question, but rather, further musings on this endless topic that Ive been rambling on about of late.
The other part of this thought process is that the feedback on my Top 10 eLearning Predictions for 2010 was that I should have Information Overload and Information Filtering as my user chosen prediction number 10. And that challenge is somewhat hinted at in this month’s bigquestion: Instruction in a Information Snacking Culture?
On that community he runs a series of post regarding ‘The bigquestion’ The question of the month is: What are your Predictions and Plans for 2011? In order to do that metadata will be an important attention point. He also is the blogmeister of the Learning Circuits community. My predictions.
Great post by Ray Sims - What To Do On Behalf of Informal Learning? He provides a list of things he can do to help informal learning in his organization. Obsessive attention to enterprise federated search, cross-linking, social tagging, content reuse strategies, etc. Both expertise location applications and other means.
Gathering information about your learners can help you create and market a better course. There’s just one question you’ve forgotten to ask, and if you don’t think about it now, it may come back to haunt you: Who is your course for? You have a great course idea. Who are they? I’m talking demographics here.
Basically, you have to like making stuff, be organised and with an attention to detail. Will anyone still do formal training in a future in which all learning is informal and on-the-job? But becoming a specialist in e-learning is another thing. If that doesn't sound like you, you won't make the grade. Will a two-day course be enough?

However, incorporating elements that are fun will keep the learners attention, make it an enjoyable experience and hopefully get people talking the course up to others. The Learning Circuit’s BigQuestion this month has to do with the increasing prevalence of internet access during presentations. The context is that during presentations it’s certainly possible that your audience is multi-tasking, and the question is; what are the implications?

The ASTD Bigquestion this month is an annual question: What did you learn about learning in 2009? So one of the tasks I will do to answer this question is to see what posts were the Best of 2009 from several different sources. I had done some work in this area in 2003 and wanted to see if any information had changed.

This process involves asking questions at several levels within an organization. If I can triangulate information, I know that I have a fact, if I can's substantiate it…well then more investigation is required. Or I know that the information is a minority opinion.
