Just before I went on holiday recently I was asked how human learning has changed with the advent, penetration and increasing ubiquity of computing technology. While you hold that thought, it’s good to think that the technology is on the cusp of providing an ‘infinite’ amount of information.
The questions prompt quite a lively and interesting discussion among online community members. The Learning Circuits BigQuestion for May is: How do we need to change in what we do in order to address learning/performance needs that are on-demand? On careful reflection, I’d have to say none. I’ve witnessed terrible examples of the training friends of mine have received when they decided to become more tech-savvy.
First thought: Everyone in L&D should understand how best to use learning technologies and most should have at least some basic skills in, say, creating very simple digital content and facilitating in a virtual classroom - even if these skills are not going to be central to your job.
