Blended learning may be a newer phenomenon in the corporate world, but coaches have been using a mixture of video, instructor-led, experiential and peer-to-peer learning for decades. After a game is complete, the coach will break down the film, showing players what they did right and wrong.

In a world as ever-changing as today’s, it is frankly the height of hubris to assume that all problems can be solved by a few heads, but that is effectively what many organizations persist in doing. The problems facing struggling Fortune 500 companies are often similarly complex, yet few if any are utilizing a crowd-sourcing model.

Because the world of technology, and for that matter the use of technology in training, is changing so rapidly, most business managers are unaware of the promising user adoption solutions coming to the forefront. This ever-changing technological landscape is currently held captive by social media, and for good reason.
In my last blog post I wrote about leveraging the Law of the Few to manage change in the workplace. Twitter is where these extraordinary few reside, so leverage the few to learn and to exchange ideas and information. It may be too early to know for sure, but mark my words, these tools will change the learning landscape.

It is like encouraging faculty to use automobiles in 1910 at a time when there were no roads to drive on.
