I appreciate the active community and constant improvements to the platform. The active community for this opensource tool and the numerous free tutorials and resources are a huge benefit for me when I’m working in Moodle or Totara (a corporate version of Moodle). WordPress is my blog host.
One of the areas that always gain interest and usage are opensource systems, that is to say, free opensource code (some are not), to which any organization, company, educational setting, government and so forth can build their own system (often noted as home-grown) and do what they wish with it. Not opensource.
I already have spoke ad naseum about the pros and cons of any free opensource platform, so my criteria on what I feel are the best 10 free opensource systems are presented below. The reason I state “free” opensource, is because “opensource” itself is not necessarily free.
