When TechSmith released Camtasia I gave CameraMan the heave-ho and began producing slicker content in half the time. Source: Roberta Gogos , Social Media & Content Marketing Consultant. It was awesome software for the times but crashed a lot and had very few options.
Using TechSmith Camtasia, you can easily add or record software demonstrations, add them to the Timeline, and export as a video or interactive eLearning. In the image below, I've imported a video demonstration to my Media Bin and added it to the Camtasia Timeline. Even cooler?
One of the most common questions we hear during our live, online eLearning classes is, "How long does it typically take to create eLearning using Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, or TechSmith Camtasia?" how much access do you have to media such as images and videos? how much voiceover audio will there be (in minutes)?
I received an email from someone who recently attended my TechSmith Camtasia virtual classes. To begin, TechSmith says that "larger videos (in resolution) will dramatically increase file size. " I completely agree with what TechSmith is saying. That is an excellent question! Set your project size right away.
Proxy media has been available in Camtasia for a few years. However, with a recent update to Camtasia 2023, recordings created by the Camtasia recorder are added to the media bin and the timeline as proxies by default. There is one notable change: I am now alerted that the media is being added as a proxy.
I was recently tasked with creating some video demos of an app on my iPhone and using them in TechSmith Camtasia 2019. To make the process as seamless as possible, I visited the App Store while on my phone and downloaded TechSmith Capture. From there, it was a simple matter to add the media to the Timeline, edit, and share.
During a recent TechSmith Camtasia vILT class , a student asked if it was possible to remove alert messages that always seemed to appear when she was recording her screen. Select the media. From the Visual Effects area, right-click the Freeze Region Effect and choose Add to selected media.
When I teach my TechSmith Camtasia vILT classes , we spend a lot of time working on the the Timeline. If you need to select a small amount of time between two media objects or position the playhead in a very specific area, things can get tedious because of Camtasia's snapping feature. Temporarily disable Timeline snapping.
TechSmith recently announced an update for Camtasia from version 2019 to version 2020. In the image below notice that I've added some media to the Camtasia Timeline. In the animated image below, I've added the Cube Rotate transition to some media on the Timeline. Kevin spent five years in the U.S.
With the release of Camtasia 2025, knocking out static is as simple as using the AI Noise Removal tool on Timeline media. For training on TechSmith Camtasia or Audiate, check out my training options. Until today, the ability to remove static throughout a Camtasia project was a pipe dream.

Along comes TechSmith Audiate, which integrates wonderfully with TechSmith Camtasia, and I have to say, I'm impressed. However, because I have a subscription to Audiate , I can right-click the audio media on the timeline and choose Edit in Audiate. The media is sent to Audiate, where a transcript is automatically created.

Add the audio to the Media Bin via the Camtasia Editor and then add the Media Bin asset to the Timeline (along with the video you recorded). The Splitoption will split just the selected media at the Playhead position. You didn’t think you’d like audio in your video but now you’ve changed your mind.
TechSmith has integrated some fantastic assets with Camtasia update 23.3.2. Visit the Media tool at the left and click the Camtasia Assets icon. Either way, the asset will be downloaded from the TechSmith website and added to your project. You will need to ensure that you are running the latest Camtasia update. millions of them.)
